The Amphiprion ocellaris, commonly known as the Ocellaris Clownfish, is a favourite among marine aquarium enthusiasts due to its striking orange and white coloration and hardy nature. This large variant is tank-bred, ensuring excellent health, acclimatisation, and suitability for captive environments.
Temperament and Compatibility: Generally peaceful and social, Amphiprion ocellaris can be kept singly or in compatible pairs. They coexist well with a variety of peaceful marine species but may show territorial behaviour towards other clownfish or similar-shaped fish. Ideal companions include gobies, blennies, and certain wrasses.
Diet: Omnivorous and adaptable, they thrive on a varied diet including high-quality marine pellets, flakes, frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Feeding 1-2 times daily is recommended.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 75 litres (approximately 20 gallons) is advised to provide adequate swimming space and stable water parameters. They benefit from the presence of host anemones such as Heteractis magnifica or Entacmaea quadricolor, though they will also thrive without one if provided with suitable shelter.
Water Parameters: Maintain temperature between 24-27°C, salinity at 1.023-1.025 SG, pH 8.1-8.4, and stable water chemistry. Moderate water flow and lighting are sufficient.
Origin: Tank-bred specimens sourced from responsible breeders, ensuring sustainability and disease resistance.
