Zoanthus spp. (Pink) are popular soft polyps known for their striking pink coloration and ease of care, making them an excellent choice for both beginner and experienced marine aquarists. This medium-sized specimen offers a lively splash of colour and dynamic movement in reef tanks.
Lighting Requirements: Moderate lighting is ideal for Zoanthus spp. Pink corals. They thrive under LED or T5 lighting systems that provide a balanced spectrum without excessive intensity.
Water Flow: Moderate water flow is recommended to ensure healthy polyp extension and to prevent detritus accumulation. Avoid strong direct currents which may cause stress.
Placement: Position this coral on rockwork where it can receive moderate light and flow. Ensure adequate spacing from neighbouring corals to prevent aggression and allow for natural growth.
Care Level: Zoanthus spp. are generally hardy and adaptable, suitable for aquarists with basic coral husbandry experience. Regular water quality maintenance is essential to support their health.
Reef Compatibility: Yes, with adequate spacing. Zoanthus spp. are considered reef safe but can release toxins if stressed, so careful placement away from sensitive species is advised.
Diet: Primarily photosynthetic, deriving nutrition from symbiotic zooxanthellae. Supplementary feeding with fine particulate foods or coral-specific supplements can enhance growth.
Additional Notes: Handle with care as some Zoanthus species may contain palytoxin. Always wear gloves and practice safe handling procedures.
