Stenorynchus seticornis, commonly known as the Arrow Crab, is a fascinating addition to marine and reef aquariums. This species is appreciated for its distinctive long legs and triangular body shape, which add visual interest to any tank.
Care Level: Moderate care is recommended. These crabs are hardy but require stable water conditions and a well-established tank.
Diet: Stenorynchus seticornis is an omnivorous scavenger. It feeds on detritus, small invertebrates, and leftover food. Supplement their diet with meaty foods such as brine shrimp or finely chopped seafood to ensure optimal health.
Compatibility and Reef Safety: Generally reef safe, but caution is advised as they may prey on small ornamental shrimp or other delicate invertebrates. Avoid housing with very small or slow-moving invertebrates.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 75 litres (20 gallons) is recommended to provide ample space and hiding places. Provide plenty of live rock and crevices for shelter.
Water Parameters: Maintain stable marine conditions with temperature between 22-26°C, salinity at 1.023-1.025 SG, and good water quality.
Lighting and Flow: Standard reef lighting is suitable. Moderate water flow is preferred to mimic natural habitat conditions.
Placement: Place in areas with ample rockwork and hiding spots. They are nocturnal and more active during the evening.
Available in various sizes to suit different aquarium setups.
