The Euphyllia cristata, commonly known as the Gold Torch coral, is a stunning large-polyp stony (LPS) coral prized for its vibrant golden tentacles and unique branching structure. This Extra Large specimen offers a dramatic focal point for mature reef aquariums.
Lighting: Moderate to high lighting is recommended to maintain vibrant coloration and healthy growth. LED or T5 lighting systems with a PAR range of 100-250 are ideal.
Water Flow: Moderate, indirect water flow helps prevent tissue damage while ensuring adequate gas exchange and nutrient delivery.
Placement: Position the Gold Torch coral in a mid to lower section of the tank, allowing sufficient space around it to prevent aggression towards neighbouring corals. This species has long, sweeping tentacles that can sting adjacent corals, so maintain at least 10-15 cm clearance.
Care Level: Moderate care level suitable for aquarists with some experience in LPS coral husbandry.
Diet: Primarily photosynthetic via symbiotic zooxanthellae, but will benefit from occasional target feeding of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp or specialised coral foods.
Compatibility: Reef safe with adequate spacing. Avoid placing near delicate or slow-growing corals to prevent stinging damage.
Water Parameters: Maintain stable marine conditions with temperature 24-27°C, salinity 1.023-1.025, pH 8.1-8.4, and low nutrient levels.
With proper care, this Extra Large Gold Torch coral will thrive and become a captivating centrepiece in your marine aquarium.
