This large butterflyfish is best suited for advanced marine aquarium enthusiasts due to its specific care requirements.

Care Level: Moderate to advanced. Requires stable water parameters and a mature aquarium environment.

Temperament and Compatibility: Generally peaceful but can be territorial towards conspecifics or similar-shaped butterflyfish. Compatible with a variety of peaceful reef-safe species. Avoid housing with aggressive fish or overly boisterous tankmates.

Diet: Omnivorous. In the aquarium, provide a varied diet including high-quality frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, marine algae, and specialised prepared foods formulated for butterflyfish. Regular feeding 2-3 times daily is recommended.

Tank Requirements: Minimum tank size of 150 litres (approximately 40 gallons) to allow ample swimming space. A well-established reef or fish-only setup with plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding is essential.
