The Centropyge eibli, or Tigerpyge, is a visually stunning dwarf angelfish native to the Indo-Pacific region. Recognised for its bright yellow body adorned with bold vertical black stripes, this species adds vibrant colour and dynamic movement to mature reef aquariums.
Care Level: Moderate to advanced. This species requires stable water parameters and a well-established environment.
Temperament: Semi-aggressive. While generally peaceful towards other fish, it may show territorial behaviour, especially towards conspecifics or similar species.
Diet: Omnivorous. The Tigerpyge thrives on a varied diet including marine algae, spirulina, mysis shrimp, and specialised angelfish preparations. Regular feeding of vegetable matter is essential to maintain health and vibrant colouration.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 120 litres (approximately 30 gallons) is recommended to provide ample swimming space and territories. The aquarium should be mature with abundant live rock to facilitate natural grazing behaviour and provide hiding spots.
Reef Compatibility: With Caution. While generally considered reef safe, this species may nip at soft corals, clam mantles, and sessile invertebrates. Monitoring is advised when housed in reef systems.
Water Parameters: Maintain stable marine conditions with temperature between 24-27°C, salinity at 1.023-1.025 SG, pH 8.1-8.4, and moderate water flow.
Origin: Indo-Pacific region.
Maximum Size: Up to 10 cm (4 inches) in length.
Providing a peaceful community environment with non-aggressive tank mates and a varied diet will ensure the health and longevity of your Centropyge eibli.
