Pseudochromis indigo (Dejongi), commonly known as the Indigo Dottyback, is a captivating marine fish prized for its deep blue-purple coloration and lively personality. Our stock is tank-bred, ensuring healthier specimens better adapted to aquarium life.
Care Level: Moderate care is recommended. These dottybacks require stable water parameters and a well-established tank.
Temperament and Compatibility: Pseudochromis indigo are semi-aggressive and territorial, especially towards conspecifics and similar-sized fish. They are best kept singly or as a mated pair in tanks with ample hiding places. Avoid housing with very passive or very small fish to prevent stress or aggression.
Diet: Omnivorous. Feed a varied diet including high-quality frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and specialised pellet or flake foods formulated for carnivorous marine fish.
Minimum Tank Size: A minimum of 75 litres (20 gallons) is recommended to provide sufficient territory and swimming space.
Reef Compatibility: With caution. While generally reef safe, they may harass small invertebrates or peaceful fish. Monitor behaviour closely in reef setups.
Origin: Tank-bred in controlled aquaculture facilities, reducing wild collection impact and improving survivability.
Maximum Size: Typically grows up to 7 cm (approximately 3 inches).
Lighting and Water Flow: Standard marine aquarium lighting and moderate water flow are suitable.
Placement: Provide plenty of rockwork and crevices for shelter and territory establishment.
