Saron rectirostris is a visually captivating crab species prized in marine aquariums for its striking appearance and active behaviour. Available in various sizes, the male specimens add dynamic interest to reef and marine tanks.
Care Level: Moderate care is recommended, as these crabs require stable water parameters and a well-established aquarium environment.
Diet: Omnivorous scavengers, they thrive on a varied diet including meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood, supplemented with algae and detritus.
Compatibility & Reef Safety: Generally reef safe with caution. While they coexist peacefully with many reef inhabitants, they may prey on small invertebrates or sessile animals if food is scarce. Avoid housing with very small or delicate species.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 75 litres is advised to provide sufficient space and stable water conditions. Provide plenty of live rock for hiding and foraging.
Water Parameters: Maintain stable marine conditions with temperature between 24-27°C, salinity at 1.023-1.025 SG, and good water quality with regular monitoring.
Placement: Place in areas with moderate water flow and ample rockwork to allow natural behaviours such as climbing and scavenging.
Origin: Not Provided.
Maximum Size: Up to 7 cm across the carapace.
