Entacmaea quadricolor, commonly known as the Sunburst-Rainbow anemone, is a stunning and vibrant species prized for its brilliant colours and dynamic movement. This tiny-sized, Tank-Bred specimen is an excellent choice for marine aquarists looking to add a splash of colour and life to their reef aquarium.
Care Level: Moderate to advanced care is recommended due to its specific feeding and placement needs.
Feeding: While Entacmaea quadricolor can derive nutrients from photosynthesis via its symbiotic zooxanthellae, supplemental feeding is essential for optimal health. Offer meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, or finely chopped seafood 1-2 times per week.
Compatibility & Reef Safety: This anemone is generally reef safe but should be kept with caution. It can host certain clownfish species, but care must be taken with corals and other invertebrates as its long tentacles may sting neighbouring tankmates. Avoid placing it near delicate corals.
Placement & Environment: Provide moderate to strong lighting to support its photosynthetic needs, ideally using LED or T5 lighting systems. Moderate water flow is preferred to ensure adequate gas exchange without causing excessive stress or damage to the tentacles. Position the anemone on a stable rock or substrate where it can attach securely and avoid areas with strong direct flow.
Tank Size: A minimum tank size of 75 litres (20 gallons) is recommended to provide sufficient space and stable water parameters.
Water Parameters: Maintain stable marine conditions with temperature between 24-27°C, salinity at 1.023-1.025 SG, pH 8.1-8.4, and low nutrient levels.
This tiny Tank-Bred Sunburst-Rainbow anemone is a captivating addition to any reef setup, offering both beauty and ecological interest when cared for properly.
