Zoanthus spp. (Ultra Grade) are a stunning group of soft coral polyps prized for their vibrant colours and ease of care in marine reef aquariums. This small variant is perfect for hobbyists looking to add a splash of colour and texture to their reef environment.
Lighting: Moderate lighting is recommended to maintain optimal colour and health. LED or T5 lighting systems are suitable, avoiding intense direct light which may cause bleaching.
Water Flow: Provide moderate, indirect water flow to ensure polyps remain open and healthy without causing tissue damage.
Placement: Place Zoanthus spp. on stable rockwork with enough space to prevent overcrowding. They can spread over time, so allow adequate spacing from neighbouring corals to avoid competition and aggression.
Care Level: Suitable for intermediate aquarists. Regular water quality monitoring and stable parameters are essential for long-term success.
Compatibility: Reef safe with caution; generally compatible with most reef inhabitants but avoid placing near aggressive corals that may overgrow or sting them.
Regular feeding is not necessary as Zoanthus spp. derive most nutrition from photosynthesis, but occasional supplementation with coral foods can promote growth.
