Rhodactis inchoata (Green) is a striking soft coral known for its vibrant green colour and distinctive textured surface. This Grade A medium specimen is a fantastic addition to any marine reef aquarium, offering both aesthetic appeal and hardy care requirements.
As a member of the mushroom coral family, Rhodactis inchoata thrives under moderate lighting conditions and benefits from gentle to moderate water flow. Placement in the mid to lower regions of the tank is recommended to avoid excessive light intensity and strong currents, which can stress the coral.
Ensure adequate spacing from neighbouring corals to prevent aggressive interactions, as Rhodactis species can extend sweeper tentacles. This coral is generally reef safe, making it suitable for mixed reef setups when given sufficient space.
Feeding is not usually necessary as Rhodactis inchoata derives much of its nutrition from photosynthesis via symbiotic zooxanthellae. However, occasional feeding of fine particulate foods such as phytoplankton or coral-specific liquid foods can promote growth and vibrancy.
Maintain stable water parameters with regular testing and water changes to support optimal health. This coral is suitable for hobbyists with beginner to intermediate experience, given its forgiving nature and adaptability.
