Cespitularia infirmata is a captivating soft coral species prized for its delicate, feathery polyps that add graceful movement and texture to reef aquariums. This medium-sized coral belongs to the family of Anthelia and Cespitularia soft corals and is suitable for marine aquarists with some experience in coral husbandry.
Lighting Requirements: Moderate lighting is recommended to maintain healthy growth and vibrant coloration. Avoid intense direct light which may cause stress or bleaching.
Water Flow: Gentle to moderate water flow is ideal. This ensures adequate nutrient delivery while preventing damage to the fragile polyps.
Placement: Position Cespitularia infirmata in a sheltered area of the reef tank where it can extend its polyps freely without being overshadowed by more aggressive corals. Provide adequate spacing to prevent competition and stinging from neighbouring species.
Diet: Primarily photosynthetic, this coral benefits from stable water parameters and occasional supplemental feeding of planktonic foods or coral-specific liquid feeds to support growth.
Reef Compatibility: Yes, with adequate spacing. It is generally reef safe but should be kept away from aggressive corals that may overgrow or sting it.
Care Level: Moderate. Suitable for aquarists familiar with soft coral care and stable reef tank conditions.
Additional Notes: Regular monitoring of water quality and stable parameters are essential for long-term health. Avoid sudden changes in lighting or flow to reduce stress.
