Tubastrea faulkneri (Yellow) is a captivating large polyp stony (LPS) coral known for its bright yellow polyps and robust skeleton. This species belongs to the family Dendrophylliidae and is prized by marine aquarists for its vibrant colour and unique appearance.
Lighting: Moderate lighting is recommended to maintain the coral’s vivid yellow colour without causing stress. Avoid intense direct light which can lead to bleaching.
Water Flow: Moderate water flow is ideal to ensure adequate nutrient delivery and waste removal while preventing tissue damage.
Placement: Position Tubastrea faulkneri in a shaded or semi-shaded area of the aquarium, ideally on rockwork with enough space to prevent contact with neighbouring corals. This species can extend sweeper tentacles, so maintain adequate spacing to avoid aggression.
Care Level: Moderate care is advised. Stable water parameters and regular feeding of meaty foods such as mysis or brine shrimp will promote healthy growth.
Compatibility: Reef safe with adequate spacing from other corals to prevent stinging or overgrowth. Not aggressive towards fish or invertebrates.
Additional Notes: Tubastrea faulkneri is a non-photosynthetic coral and benefits from supplemental feeding. Regular monitoring of water quality and parameters is essential for long-term success.
