Galaxea spp. (Green) is a captivating large polyp stony (LPS) coral known for its striking green hues and distinctive polyp structure. This small specimen is suitable for marine aquarium enthusiasts with some experience in coral husbandry.
Lighting: Moderate to high lighting is recommended to maintain vibrant coloration and healthy growth. LED or T5 lighting systems that provide a balanced spectrum work well.
Water Flow: Moderate water flow is ideal to ensure adequate nutrient exchange without causing tissue damage. Avoid strong direct currents that may stress the coral.
Placement: Position this coral on stable rockwork in the middle to lower regions of the tank, allowing enough space to prevent aggression towards neighbouring corals. Galaxea spp. can extend sweeper tentacles, so maintain adequate spacing.
Care Level: Moderate. Regular monitoring of water parameters and stable conditions are essential for optimal health.
Diet: Primarily photosynthetic via symbiotic zooxanthellae, but benefits from occasional feeding of meaty foods such as brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, or specialised coral foods.
Compatibility: Reef safe with caution. It may exhibit aggressive behaviour towards nearby corals, so provide sufficient spacing to avoid stinging.
Maintain stable marine aquarium conditions with parameters such as temperature 24-26°C, salinity 1.023-1.025, and stable alkalinity and calcium levels for best results.
